Own Your Power When Prepping for the SAT & ACT

It is easy to feel powerless in the college admissions process. You're just one person. A little fish in a big pond of applicants. In many cases, all the admissions officers will see is your application which is a two-dimensional portrait of a three-dimensional person. And then there are the statistics. With schools like Harvard and Stanford reportedly admitting fewer than six students out of 100 applicants, what's the point of even applying?

Not everyone wants to attend Harvard or Stanford. But, regardless of the selectivity of the schools to which they are applying, when the end result of the college admissions process is still unknown, many students feel overwhelmed.

The solution?

Own your power in this process.
If you prep for your SAT or ACT with the intention of setting yourself up for success, there is a very good chance you will succeed.
If you work with the intention of setting yourself up for success, there is a very good chance you will succeed.

With regard to the college admissions tests...

Get  clear about your target scores—aim to be at the top end of your preferred school's published interquartile range.
Figure out a plan of attack (you can check out my tips for getting started here).
And, if you really mean business, join forces with a pro (like me!) who can guide your prep and give you tools and techniques for achieving maximum results.

There is so much in your control here.

The time you invest. The focus and diligence of your commitment.  The selection of schools to which you apply. The willingness to try, and the resilience to try again.

And on that note...

Dear Friends,

As 2014 draws to a close, I am wrapping up a project that I've been working on for over a year...

MY BOOK!

Acing It! A Mindful Guide to Maximum Results on Your College Admissions Test will be available for purchase VERY SOON!

As I put the finishing touches on Acing It! and coach my students, I'm taking a brief hiatus from publishing my blog.

You can count on hearing from me again in 2015. Next year will be a very exciting time. New book. New students. New insights. New explorations. I can't wait!

If you have any questions in the interim or if you are interested in exploring the possibility of working with me on your SAT or ACT prep, please Contact Me.

Thank you for inviting me along on your test prep journey. I look forward to reconnecting in 2015.

~ Erika
