More Information on Test Prep Programs
Below, I've laid out information about 15 key aspects of my services as they relate to my SAT and ACT Coaching programs.
In addition to coaching high school students in their PSAT, SAT, and ACT preparation, I help younger students prepare for the ISEE, SSAT, and SHSAT.

1. FREE 30-MINUTE CONSULTATION: PARENT
In our conversation, we'll discuss your student's progress in preparing for the test and your goals for the program. Then, we'll determine a structure that best meets the needs of both you and your student.
2. FREE 30-MINUTE CONSULTATION: STUDENT
The student consultation provides an opportunity for your student and me to get acquainted and discuss their progress to date, goals for the test, and a plan to achieve those goals. I'll address any questions your student may have about the SAT and ACT. We'll also establish what to do in preparation for our first formal session.
3. REVIEWING TEST CONTENT & STRATEGIES
On the SAT...
On the ACT...
Once we’ve reviewed a subject or topic, I assign homework related to what we've discussed.
As we pace the program, I collaborate with the student to determine how quickly to move from one topic or section to the next. We take into account the student’s confidence with the material and any time constraints, such as upcoming test dates.
- The Reading and Writing section evaluates a student’s ability to tackle distinct question types. I teach clear strategies for approaching each type, and students practice applying the strategies while reflecting on how correct and incorrect answers connect to the passage. The section also tests underlying content, especially standard English conventions, which appear in the Writing portion.
- The Math section evaluates underlying content knowledge. In addition, I teach students strategies for using the Desmos calculator (a digital calculator which is built into the College Board's Bluebook app) to solve problems more efficiently.
On the ACT...
- The English and Math sections evaluate a student's understanding of underlying concepts. Good technique supports a student's performance, but content knowledge is key.
- The Reading and (optional) Science sections primarily evaluate a student's technique—the strategies they use to manage time, navigate passages, and approach questions effectively.

"One of my favorite things about working with you was being given the outlines. They had so many techniques and rules that made sense. I enjoyed going through them with you because you explained them all to me and gave me a refresher in the basics that I needed to know."
—Gracie
4. MATERIALS
In addition to my outlines, we utilize official SAT and ACT preparation materials, as well as prep books from publishers other than ACT or The College Board.
I provide each student with a digital Question Tracker spreadsheet, which empowers them to learn from the test questions they find most challenging. This tool helps students track their progress and creates an easy and practical system for accountability.
Your student should also have a notebook and a calculator.

5. HOMEWORK
I assign homework that reinforces the concepts we review in each session. For example, if an ACT student and I focus on grammar rules, I may assign an ACT English section to apply those skills.
Homework is limited at the start. As we progress and cover additional material, assignments become more time-intensive, eventually including half or full practice tests between sessions. This may require up to three hours of work.
Deciding on assignments is a collaborative process that takes into account a student’s other commitments. At the same time, homework is essential for achieving the best results.
To maximize learning, I encourage students to complete homework on days when we don’t meet. This approach reinforces our conversations, improves retention, and helps students build steady momentum.

6. COMMUNICATION
I provide you with email updates on your student's progress after every session. These updates may include scores, the concepts we reviewed, goals moving forward, and my general observations. If we feel a conversation would be beneficial, I am happy to schedule a time to talk on the phone.
7. SESSION LENGTH & FREQUENCY
Coaching packages consist of 12 sessions lasting 1.5 hours, during which students meet with me once or twice a week.
Both pacing options allow for consistent feedback and help maintain strong, positive momentum. If you wish to add additional sessions or extend the length of scheduled sessions, you will be invoiced for the extra time upon scheduling.
Outside of a coaching package, individual coaching sessions require no ongoing commitment. These sessions can be scheduled regularly or as periodic check-ins to support your student's independent test preparation.

9. MEETING TIMES
Regular weekly coaching sessions are available Monday through Thursday between 10 AM and 8:30 PM (Eastern Time). Please contact me regarding weekend availability.
I reserve Friday afternoons for rescheduling sessions if no other workable times are available Monday through Thursday.

10. RESCHEDULING & CANCELLATION POLICY
Sessions may be cancelled or rescheduled with at least 24 hours’ notice. Sessions changed within 24 hours of their scheduled start time will be charged in full.
The earlier I am informed of a student's need to reschedule, the more likely we can find a new time that works for them. Similarly, providing advance notice of a student's desire for additional sessions increases the likelihood of retaining their weekly time slot or finding a workable alternative.

11. ONLINE COACHING
Online sessions provide the same high-quality experience as in-person coaching, with the added convenience of connecting from anywhere. They are also offered at a lower rate than my previous in-person programs, while maintaining the same level of personalization and results.
12. LEARNING DIFFERENCES & ADHD
I have experience working with students with a variety of learning differences, including ADHD, who require testing accommodations such as extended time.
In my work with all students, I strive to identify their individual learning styles and adapt my recommendations accordingly.
The techniques I teach can often be applied to a student's schoolwork, as well as their test preparation.
